For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
A broad area of low pressure located south of Campeche on the
western coast of the Yucatan Peninsula is producing a large area of
showers and scattered thunderstorms. This system is showing signs of
organization while it moves west-northwestward at about 10 mph, and
development of a tropical depression will be possible when the
center of the disturbance moves over the warm waters of the Bay of
Campeche later today and into Tuesday.  An Air Force Reserve
reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate the low this
afternoon, if necessary. Regardless of development, this system will
produce heavy rainfall across the Yucatan Peninsula and southeastern
Mexico today and Tuesday, and across portions of eastern mainland
Mexico on Tuesday and Wednesday.

MIDWEEK RED TIDE UPDATE (March 3) 

No new water samples have been received this week from the east coast of Florida.

No Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, was detected in water samples collected late last week offshore of Citrus County in northwest Florida.

In southwest Florida, no Karenia brevis was detected in water samples collected early this week alongshore of Sarasota and Collier counties. Samples collected late last week north of the Florida Keys (Monroe County) also contained no K. brevis. Sampling will continue this week and complete results will be available in the next scheduled status report on Friday, March 6.

REGIONAL RED TIDE SUMMARIES (February 27)
East Region:  No Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, was detected this week in a single water sample collected from the Indian River Lagoon (Brevard County). Additional offshore samples collected east of Martin County also contained no K. brevis.
Northwest Region:  No Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, was detected this week in a single water sample collected alongshore Escambia County. Additional offshore samples collected south of Escambia, Okaloosa and Walton counties also contained no K. brevis.
Southwest Region:  No Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, was detected this week in water samples collected alongshore between Pinellas and Collier counties. Background concentrations of K. brevis were detected in a single sample collected alongshore of the Huston River inside of the Everglades National Park (Monroe County). Additional offshore samples collected west of Lee and Monroe counties also contained no K. brevis.
