ABNT20 KNHC 291734 TWOAT TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL 200 PM EDT FRI AUG 29 2014 For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico: The National Hurricane Center has issued the last advisory on Cristobal, which has become a post-tropical cyclone a few hundred miles east of Cape Race, Newfoundland. A large area of disorganized cloudiness and thunderstorms over the central Caribbean Sea is associated with a tropical wave. Upper-level winds are forecast to become a little more favorable for development on Saturday while the wave moves over the northwestern Caribbean Sea. The disturbance is forecast to move across the Yucatan peninsula on Sunday and into the southwestern Gulf of Mexico by Monday, where environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for some gradual development. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 10 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...30 percent. $$ Forecaster Brown
MIDWEEK RED TIDE UPDATE (March 3)
No new water samples have been received this week from the east coast of Florida.
No Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, was detected in water samples collected late last week offshore of Citrus County in northwest Florida.
In southwest Florida, no Karenia brevis was detected in water samples collected early this week alongshore of Sarasota and Collier counties. Samples collected late last week north of the Florida Keys (Monroe County) also contained no K. brevis. Sampling will continue this week and complete results will be available in the next scheduled status report on Friday, March 6.REGIONAL RED TIDE SUMMARIES (February 27)
East Region: No Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, was detected this week in a single water sample collected from the Indian River Lagoon (Brevard County). Additional offshore samples collected east of Martin County also contained no K. brevis.
