Synopsis: A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE SOUTH THROUGH GULF WATERS TONIGHT AND EARLY SATURDAY. AN INCREASING NORTHWEST TO NORTHERLY WIND FLOW IN THE WAKE OF THE FRONT WILL BRING EXERCISE CAUTION HEADLINES TO THE OFFSHORE WATERS LATER TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY WITH ELEVATED WINDS CONTINUING THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY AS THE GRADIENT TIGHTENS AS STRONG HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS IN OVER THE MID ATLANTIC. LIGHTER WINDS AND LOWER SEAS MAY WILL BRIEFLY RETURN TO THE WATERS EARLY ON MONDAY BEFORE SOUTHWEST WINDS INCREASE BACK TOWARD CAUTIONARY OR LOW END SMALL CRAFT RANGE MONDAY NIGHT AS A TRAILING COLD FRONT FROM A STORM SYSTEM MOVING ACROSS THE SOUTHEASTERN STATES APPROACHES FROM THE WEST WITH ELEVATED WINDS AND SEAS CONTINUING INTO TUESDAY AS WINDS SHIFT TO THE NORTHWEST AND NORTH AS THE COLD FRONT MOVES SOUTH THROUGH THE WATERS. IN ADDITION TO INCREASING WIND NUMEROUS SHOWERS ALONG WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS WILL ACCOMPANY THE FRONT. LIGHTER WINDS WILL RETURN TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY AS SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS IN OVER THE GULF.

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Subtropical
Storm Alex, located a few hundred miles south-southwest of the
Azores.

Tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 5 days.

Routine issuance of the Tropical Weather Outlook will resume on
June 1, 2016. During the off-season, Special Tropical Weather
Outlooks will be issued as conditions warrant.
