MIDWEEK RED TIDE UPDATE (May 13)
No water samples have been received so far this week from the east coast of Florida or northwest Florida.
In southwest Florida, no Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, was detected in water samples collected alongshore of Sarasota and Collier counties. Sampling will continue this week and complete results will be available in the next scheduled status report on Friday, May 16.
REGIONAL RED TIDE SUMMARIES (May 9)East Region: No water samples were collected this week from the east coast of Florida.
Northwest Region: No Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, was detected this week in water samples collected offshore of Pensacola Beach (Escambia County), Crystal River (Citrus County) and Bayport (Hernando County).
Southwest Region: None of the water samples collected this week between Pinellas and Monroe counties contained Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism.
The FWRI Red Tide Status Line is now available to callers to hear a recording detailing red tide conditions throughout the state. FWRI updates the recording each Friday by 5 p.m. after sampling efforts for the week have been completed and analyzed.
