Synopsis: Tropical Storm Nestor formed in the central Gulf of Mexico of Mexico this friday afternoon and is expected to make landfall in the Florida panhandle around or just west of Apalachicola around daybreak Saturday. Tropical storm force winds and high seas are expected starting this evening and continuing at least through the morning hours. Seas could reach 27 feet offshore of the panhandle with seas up to 13 feet expected in Apalachee Bay. Conditions will improve by Saturday night with light winds and diminishing seas on Sunday and Monday. Winds and seas are expected to increase somewhat ahead of an approaching cold front on Monday night into Tuesday.


Tonight: Tropical storm conditions. Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Seas 2 to 3 ft with occasional seas up to 4 ft. Dominant period 3 to 4 seconds.

Saturday: Tropical storm conditions expected. Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Seas 1 to 3 ft with occasional seas up to 4 ft. Dominant period 2 to 4 seconds.

Saturday Night: NNW wind 5 to 15 kt. A chance of showers, mainly before 8pm. Seas 1 ft or less. Dominant period 2 to 4 seconds.

Sunday: Variable winds 5 kt or less. Mostly sunny. Seas 1 ft or less. Dominant period 3 to 5 seconds.

Sunday Night: Variable winds 5 kt or less. Mostly clear. Seas 1 ft or less.

Monday: SE wind 5 to 10 kt. A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Seas 1 ft or less.

Monday Night: SSW wind 5 to 10 kt. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Seas 1 ft or less.

Tuesday: WSW wind around 10 kt becoming WNW in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 kt. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Seas around 1 ft.

Tuesday Night: N wind around 10 kt. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Seas 1 ft or less.
